Human-Centred Advisory & Community Support working at the intersection of lived experience and system change

Human-Centred Advisory & Community Support
Lived experience.
System change.
Human first.
Salus Advisory supports organisations to bring lived experience into mental health services in a meaningful, practical, and respectful way.
Led by Jamie Robson, the work focuses on improving systems, strengthening understanding, and keeping the people who use services at the centre of decision-making.
Supporting individuals, community organisations, charities, CICs, and grassroots projects through lived experience informed advisory, facilitation, wellbeing support, and community engagement.

Who is Salus Advisory?
I'm Jamie Robson, the practitioner behind Salus Advisory.
Salus Advisory is my independent advisory and community practice, built upon lived experience, professional development, and several years of paid work supporting individuals, groups, and organisations within the community and wellbeing sector in Walsall, UK.
Over the past three years, I've worked extensively within Community Interest Companies (CICs), facilitating peer support groups, community activities, wellbeing initiatives, and lived experience-led projects. This work has involved supporting people facing a wide range of challenges, including mental health difficulties, neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ exclusion, social isolation, identity-related challenges, and barriers to accessing support.
Alongside professional experience and ongoing development, I bring personal lived experience of navigating adversity, including challenges relating to neurodiversity, mental health and wellbeing, and LGBTQ+ experiences. These experiences have shaped my belief that meaningful support begins with understanding, dignity, and genuine human connection, particularly where individuals encounter barriers within systems that are not always designed with their needs in mind.
Throughout this journey, I have continued to develop my skills through training in areas including safeguarding, mental health awareness, suicide prevention, co-production and co-design, community engagement, and wellbeing support, alongside ongoing professional development and supervision.
The foundation of Salus Advisory is simple: people are experts in their own lives. Whether working with individuals, communities, or organisations, my aim is to help create practical pathways forward, strengthen participation, and ensure that lived experience is recognised as a valuable source of knowledge and insight.
Above all, I believe support should be human, accessible, and grounded in real-world experience.
Professional Support & Continuous Development
Although Salus Advisory is an independent practice, I do not work in isolation.
I am fortunate to have a network of trusted professionals, practitioners, community leaders, and organisations who provide guidance, challenge, insight, and support when appropriate. This includes individuals with experience across mental health, therapy, safeguarding, community development, wellbeing services, and lived experience practice.
Alongside ongoing professional supervision, continued learning, and reflective practice, these relationships help ensure that my work remains accountable, informed, and focused on delivering safe and effective support.
I believe good practice includes recognising the limits of your own knowledge and knowing when to seek advice, collaborate, or signpost individuals towards more appropriate support. Collaboration across organisations and professional networks is often an important part of ensuring people receive the help they need.
Where an individual's needs fall beyond my scope of practice, I will always seek to connect them with the people, organisations, or services best placed to help.
Salus Advisory may be independent, but it is supported by a wider network of experience, knowledge, and professional relationships that help strengthen the quality and safety of the support I provide.
